About Me

Sarah J. McCaffery
Since my son Hudson was born, I have documented almost every day of his life through photographs. Although I've always enjoyed photography, there is something intensely satisfying about capturing the innocence of children on camera. At the urging of some friends, I decided to start an on-location, babies and children portrait business. That means that I will travel to your home or outdoor location and take photos of children enjoying life. I primarily use natural lighting, so the photographs are natural and the kids are more comfortable than in a traditional studio setting. As a mom, I understand how difficult it can be to choose just one or two photos from a session to purchase; for that reason, I provide a CD of all of the family's favorite images included in the sitting fee. I am currently booking sessions in towns within 20 miles of Methuen, MA, although I am willing to travel further for an additional fee. For rates and more information, please email me at sarahj@post.harvard.edu.

FAQ's

Where will the session take place?

I am an on-location, natural light photographer. That means that a photo shoot can take place anywhere from the comfort of your own home to a local park, playground, orchard, etc. as long as there is enough natural light available. I would be happy to suggest some good locations if you need help finding one!

How long will the session last?

I do not have a strict time limit, but most sessions take about 1-2 hours. I want you to have fun and enjoy yourselves, so I am very willing to allow time for feedings, diaper changes, or clothing changes.

What clothes should we wear?

The simpler the better! Avoid logos or graphics on clothing, and stick with solid colors or simple prints. Sometimes a single unique piece can create a statement – for example, I always love photographing babies and children in cute hats!

For family or group shots, try to choose clothing that is complimentary but not identical. If you are unsure of what would look best, I can give you some guidance by phone before the shoot or you can bring a few choices to the session.

How do I schedule a newborn session?

Newborn photos are best taken as early as possible, and always within two weeks of birth. Please contact me well in advance of your due date so that I can set aside some possible times for the session. Once your baby makes his or her entrance, contact me as soon as you can and we will set up a specific date from there.

What if I don’t like the photos?

I want you to LOVE your photos! If you are not happy with the pictures from our session, I will come back and take more until you have something you love.

How much does a session cost?
